"We got Belle"

At round about five to eight on 14th September 2010, my life changed forever. My wife Caireen had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, and in the proudest moment of my life so far I got to tell C that we had a baby girl; I blurted out "We Got Belle" and we both cried some more. Belle is named after her late grandmother Isabel who sadly passed away the year before, Caireen had told her just before she died that if she ever had a daughter she'd call her Belle, and Isabel kissed her hand in blessing. Now I try to say "We Got Belle" at least once a day as a mantra to remind myself of my duties and responsibilities as a new father, by naming my blog this I am doubly reminded of this. I don't intend to write exclusively about being a new dad or my family life, I want to write about my motivations, principles, experiences and goals. I want to hold myself accountable so I can tell her what I am like, so I don't forget. Like many others, I find it easy to take so much for granted, by writing this I want to focus on what's important to me and pass it on. Today has been my first ever Father's Day, and it has also been one of my best ever days, I've done lots of different things today, but what I will take from this first of all was Belle having her morning nap on my chest, nothing else mattered in the world for about an hour today other than keeping still and letting her doze.
